Front pages after Obama took the oath

....

....

The front pages of world's newspapers on the days around January 20, when Barack Obama took over the presidency of the United States, were definitaley not among the most creative ones. Newseum has archived the pages from January 19, 20, 21, and 22 at newseum.org.

On the 21st, most front pages showed either the oath, the crowd, or the dance. Very few took different approaches to the big event. The Telegraph of India, for instance, visualized the change with a graphic illustration across the upper half of the front page, The Washington Post hired a painter to do Obama's portrait for the cover on Inauguration Day, and the Chicago Sun Times did a wonderful quiet front page on January 22nd, showing the new president at work in his new job. See a few pages above, and the rest at newseum.org.
