Me and Mondrian

Gosh! I'm famous! - or at least - I'm in damn good company. With Piet Mondrian (1872-1944)! Although only in the index of the notorious yearbook "Dansk Kunst 07" ("Danish Art 07"), where by some strange coincidence, my name sits right beside the name of the great Dutch painter. He is only mentioned in a passing remark on page 86, whereas my name pops up on page 87 in a review of the opening exhibition of the City Vest Art Gallery (now: Galleri V58). So not only on the same page in the index, also on the same spread in the book. Wauw!

"Dansk Kunst", published since 1984 and since 1994 splendidly edited by Torben Weirup, is a regular institution in the Danish art world, giving a thorough overview of what happened on the Danish art scene in the year gone by.
This year's volume, however, will be the last. The big publishing company Gyldendal bought the rights to publish the book from Aschehoug last year and decided to close the project. For economic reasons? Probably. And against economy, even art will fight in vain. And Denmark has lost a great book series.
